I'd probably be terrified if I were that cop. Japan is such an odd place. Try that in the US and you'd get shot.

Well, the main difference is that cops KNOW that they won't EVER get shot in Japan... As a matter of fact they don't even have guns. A few wangan racers are not much to worry about there...

Back up... lol. It's just racers on the wangan or any peripherical road around any big japanese city. It's the same thing every friday night. They get there, play with cops and leave...

Maybe you'd wouldn't get shot,but they would have no hesitation to ram your car off the road and disable it, followed by arresting you as an example.

This is pretty normal here. Our police don't really do anything. Last night a WRX STI noticed my GA was not a standard econobox and started revving at me. A patrol car just drove on past as if it wasn't obvious the STI was jonesing for a race.
I don't street race, so I let him pass me, clearly to his disappointment.

yes I remember reading/seeing something saying that the cops know they have no chance catching up with these tuned cars so they don't bother chasing them.
Shit, I think it was in Tokyo drift lol.

I'm not there yet... My wife is japanese though and I've spent a lot of time there... DI don't know much about the car culture though to be honest. I will have plenty of time to dicover all that though... Bought my ticket (and my wife's of course lol) yesterday. I leave september 1st :)

'murican cops would just pit maneuver the first hatch and shotgun the other two guys. "They were drug runners...or coyotes...or terrorists...or something..." Would be good enough for a usual "We are investigating this unfortunate incident of police brutality, and will wrap it up and do nothing when you've forgotten about it." press release, or a two days paid leave, or at worst, transfer to another district.
